Define the estimate package
A lead estimating responsibility can include maintaining the drawing register, agreeing the package boundary, collecting contractor rates and recording supplier quotations. Confirm the person assigned and their relevant experience directly before commissioning work.
Coordination checklist
- Identify drawing revisions, alternates and deadlines.
- Separate material supply, installation and specialist package responsibilities.
- Confirm wage burden, labor allowances and contractor markups.
- Escalate missing specifications or design questions to the responsible team.
- Agree who approves the completed worksheet before bid submission.
Scope and assignment
Estimating and quantity takeoff support bid preparation. They do not replace licensed electrical engineering, stamped design, permitting, inspections or official code certification. The contractor and responsible design professionals must verify installation requirements with the authority having jurisdiction.
