Choose Quantities Only or a Priced Estimate
A material takeoff lists measured counts and lengths. Labor hours, material prices and the final bid summary are additional scope decisions.
Excel Material Takeoff
Itemized quantities by CSI MasterFormat division, broken down by floor, area, and system type.
Labor Hour Breakdown
When commissioned, use an agreed labor source and installation factors; apply wage and burden rates separately.
Color-Coded Marked Plans
High-resolution PDF drawings with color-coded markup highlights verifying every measured device.
Scope & Assumption Letter
Detailed bid letter documenting drawing revisions, addenda, inclusions, and exclusions.
Electrical quantity takeoff: what is measured?
Count lighting fixtures and devices by type, then reconcile the plans with fixture, panel and equipment schedules. Measure conduit by material and size. Calculate conductor footage separately from raceway footage using the specified conductor configuration, with rises, drops and termination allowances stated.
Keep Division 26 electrical scope separate from agreed Division 27 communications and Division 28 safety/security work. Follow the actual project manual and responsibility matrix. A takeoff uses the issued design; engineering calculations and code certification are separate responsibilities.
What should I send for a takeoff quote?
Send the current electrical plans, one-lines, schedules, specifications, addenda, project location and bid deadline. Identify included systems, measurement units, required workbook format and who supplies material and labor prices. State missing information as an allowance or clarification.
Inspect actual electrical material takeoff samples, review the measurement and pricing assumptions, or request electrical cost estimating services when you need quantities extended into costs.
