Measurement responsibilities
A takeoff assignment can include fixture and device counts, scaled raceway lengths, feeder schedules and equipment quantities. Agree the measurement units, routing assumptions, conductor multipliers and drawing references needed for contractor review.
Document and format questions
- Which drawings and specifications form the baseline?
- How are unscaled details and diagram-only routing handled?
- Are vertical rises and connection allowances stated separately?
- Can the quantities be traced back to sheets and symbols?
- Which spreadsheet and annotated drawing formats are available?
Software compatibility and relevant qualifications should be confirmed for the assignment. Named subscriptions, certifications and experience years require evidence.
Scope and assignment
Estimating and quantity takeoff support bid preparation. They do not replace licensed electrical engineering, stamped design, permitting, inspections or official code certification. The contractor and responsible design professionals must verify installation requirements with the authority having jurisdiction.
